Nancy LeMay
Daytona Beach, Florida
BA Classical Studies - Latin and BS Ed from the University of Missouri - Columbia. Also got 13 hrs grad school in Latin & Classics while I taught Latin I & II to undergrads (yes, I was one of those dreaded TAs). My high school was the perpetual State Football Champion, Jeff City High (Jefferson City, MO)
Family Ties:
Mike (yes, THAT Mike) who's the best husband in the world, stepkids Matt & Andrea, son-in-law Keith, and new "daughters" Esther and Nip Nip. Mom and my sister Cathy & her family are back in Missouri (that's where the "twang" comes from).
TRAVEL, TRAVEL, TRAVEL. Did I mention I like to travel? Especially when it includes COMPLETELY UNINTERRUPTED time with my hubby. And DANCING!!! Thanks to Dale Walton, our "niche" seems to be swing and cha-cha, but we do a decent waltz. But our foxtrot is a trainwreck (or a wrestling match). And I love Middle Eastern Dance but I've only had a few lessons so I'm not that good at it (although Mike strongly disagrees with that statement). Also love to worship, with a peculiar gift for harmonies, and I love photography, but it seems that's one of those things I never quite get around to.
Guilty Pleasure:
shopping-if it were an Olympic sport, I'd be a world-class gold medalist.
Favorite TV shows/Movies:
TV: Jeopardy and any show with a form of "Dance" in the title. Also love NFL football and PGA golf, especially since it's not just "the Tiger Show" anymore. Lately like Person of Interest and finally catching on to Raising Hope. Movies: The Quiet Man, which is the best John Wayne movie EVER, Ben Hur, The Best Years of Our Lives, Holiday Inn, Lord of the Rings (LOTR)...and for pure yuks, Young Frankenstein & Galaxy Quest.
After almost 18 years, we finally lost Cliff in October of '10, so after an 8 month hiatus we acquired a couple of girls from the Oshkosh Humane Society: Esther, a former stray silver tiger with a rapidly expanding middle who's about 8 yrs old (no housecat etiquette though, catch phrase is "I was a stray, you know..."), and Nip Nip, a TEENSY (like, 6 lbs) 12 yr old black & tan tabby with a penchant for milk-treading and licking plastic bags.
Favorite Band/Artist/Song:
Pillar, Tenth Avenue North & Matthew West. At Christmas I love Handel's Messiah plus get my Celtic fix with The Chieftains "Bells of Dublin". For worship, "Revelation Song" & "My Savior's Love" (the "oh how marvelous" one) always get me, plus Third Day's first "Offerings" & most Hillsong (sing it, Darlene!)
How did you end up working at the Q?
They had an opening that fit all my prior 20 years of work experience perfectly. God is so funny that way - like our whole lives are just "training" for what He really wants us to do.
Favorite Bible Passage:
Romans 8:18-39.
What is your most treasured possession?
My wedding ring, and after that it would be my official LOTR replica of Eowyn's sword-it reminds me to be the strong, brave warrior princess God designed me as.
My prayer for Q-90:
That we see things through God's eyes and know that all things are possible through Him.
If you could add or change one thing to the Green Bay area, what would it be?
A Cracker Barrel restaurant-LOVE their green beans.
Who did you want to be like when you were growing up?
An archaeologist in Troy or ancient Rome. I ended up in insurance marketing, inadvertently following in my dad's footsteps.
What was the last book you read, and when did you read it?
"Beautiful Outlaw" by John Eldredge. But my all time fave is "Heaven" by Randy Alcorn, which changed my life by changing my focus. If you need hope, read that book.
If you could ask one question, what would it be, and how would you answer it?
? Q: Are there animals in heaven? A: In Revelations 19:11, Jesus returns riding a white horse out of heaven - duh! (and THANK YOU Pastor Wells for pointing that out to me!)
If you could spend a whole day with somebody famous, who would it be and why?
Would LOVE to have discussions on Christianity with C.S. Lewis. And I'd love to spend the day shopping with Joyce Meyer.
What's your favorite candy and soda?
Okay, I've become the office "health nazi" now - no more sugar or high fructose corn syrup, plus no wheat, beef, or potatoes (okay, not so good at that last one) I do goat dairy & almond milk now, and regularly pretend to beat the snot out of stuff in cardio kickboxing (verrrry therapeutic). BUT, I LOVE Pamela's Chocolate Chunk Pecan Shortbread cookies.
